WBB falls to Spartans
The Earlham College women's basketball team fell at Manchester University 77-58 on Saturday afternoon.
Jay Bright led the Quakers with 18 points after going 6-for-13 on field goals. The sophomore also brought down six rebounds. Alexis Gibson reached double digits with 16 points and six rebounds. Eva Lyon led the Quakers under the rim with 10 boards.
Despite shooting 18% on field goals in the opening quarter, the Quakers went into the first break evenly matched with the Spartans, with an 11-13 deficit. After the quarter, the Spartans outscored the Quakers 46-29 in the middle quarters. Manchester shot 51% on field goals in the two quarters. EC recovered and was even with the Spartans in the final frame of play.
Next up for the Quakers will be a conference matchup with Franklin College in Druley Performance Gym Wednesday evening. The Grizzlies won the first matchup 68-58 on New Year's Eve.
