Red Wolves Force 23 Turnovers In Win Over Alice Lloyd
The IU East women's basketball team forced 23 turnovers and used timely shooting as they were able to defeat Alice Lloyd on Saturday in a crucial RSC matchup 81-70.
Tia Tolbert tallied a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Caitlin McEldowney and Addie Brown scored 16 points apiece off the bench. Davina Smith had 12 points and six boards.
The Red Wolves only deficit in the second half was when it started. After trailing 37-35 at the break, Taylor Browning's layup sparked a 7-0 run to take a 42-37 lead. Smith hit a layup with 55 seconds to go in the third to give the Red Wolves a 55-48 lead.
In the fourth, Tia Tolbert converted on a pair of free throws to give IU East their biggest lead of the game at 13 with 2:23 to play. But the Red Wolves needed to hit their free throws down the stretch as Alice Lloyd trimmed their 13-point deficit down to just six points with under a minute to go. McEldowney and Brown hit their freebies toward the end of the game to seal the victory.
The Red Wolves will host Carlow on Tuesday at Lingle Court at 5:30 p.m.
