MBB falls to Anderson in Overtime
The Earlham College men's basketball team lost an overtime thriller to Anderson University 87-83 on Saturday afternoon.
Jaden Terry led the squad with team highs in points (25), rebounds (eight), and assists (7). Freshman Casey Keesee recorded his first double-digit points effort with 17, after going 4-for-9 from 3-point range.
The Ravens started out with a 7-0 lead, and after a timeout from the Quakers, the home squad rallied to tie the game three minutes later at 7-7. Earlham then went on to take an 18-12 lead at the 8:17 mark of the first half. A 9-0 run later in the half gave EC a 32-20 lead over the visitors with 3:23 left on the clock.
The Quakers went into the break with a 36-31 lead, but the Ravens tied the game four minutes into the second half after a 9-2 run. With the game tied at 53 at the 12:16 mark, Anderson scored an 8-0 run to lead 61-53. Unphased, Terry and Keesee combined for eight points on three straight Quaker possessions to tie the game back up at 61. Keesee later tied the game at 69 with a 3-pointer with 3:10 remaining in regulation. Earlham took a 77-75 lead off of a free throw from Terry, but the Ravens hit a layup with five seconds left on the clock to force overtime.
Anderson hit a 3-pointer off its opening possession in overtime to set the tone of the period. The Quakers went 0-for-4 from 3-point range in overtime, and were held to just two points in the final two minutes of the period.
Earlham will continue its season in non-conference play at Case Western Reserve next Sunday. Tip-off is slated for 2 pm.
