WBB bested by Bulldogs

The Earlham College women's basketball team continued its 2022-23 season with a 67-60 loss against the charging Adrian College on Saturday.

Jay Bright led the EC offense with 14 points. The sophomore also collected three rebounds and one steal. Alexis Gibson reached double-digit points with 11, and also led the squad in rebounds with six.

The Quakers had an early edge, and led 15-10 after a 3-pointer from Willow Runyon with 3:23 remaining in the first quarter. The Bulldogs rallied, and ended the quarter with an 8-1 run.

Runyon hit another three with 5:57 remaining in the second frame to put Earlham back on top 23-20. Adrian had tied the game back up at 29 with 2:08 remaining before the break, and the Quaker defense held the Bulldogs silent for the remainder of the half. Two jumpers from Kinzi Brooks and Bailey Gibson put EC ahead 33-29.

Adrian began the second half with a 9-2 run, and would go on to outscore Earlham 28-16 in the third. Earlham then recorded its lowest shooting percentage of the night at just 21% in the fourth quarter.

The Quakers will be back in action on Wednesday at home against Miami Hamilton. Tip-off is slated for 3 pm in Druley Performance Gym to kick off the fall break.
