Cross Country: Brescia Invitational Recap

The Indiana University East men's cross country team didn't have to wait very long for another victory.
After claiming a title a week ago for the first time since 2016, the IU East men won for the second straight event at the Brescia University Invitational on Friday, Oct. 7. On the women's side, the Red Wolves were eighth with 17 schools competing.
With IU East receiving votes in the latest national men's poll, the Red Wolves finished with 70 points as 20 schools were represented at the meet. Trevecca Nazarene University (Tenn.) was second with 71 points, while IU Kokomo and Lindsey Wilson College tied for third with 74. Lindsey Wilson won the women's competition.
Tucker Burris finished second for the men in a field of 131 runners with a time of 26:01.4 on the 8K course at Yellow Creek Park. The others to score for the Red Wolves were Mylan Nocton (26:34.7, 10th), Teagen Rodriguez (26:43.5, 12th), Richard Bower (27:05.6, 20th) and Braden Coate (27:29.4, 31st).
Jason Bowers of Cumberland University (Tenn.) won the individual title with a 24:07.1.
Also competing for the men were Erick Gallardo Cortes (27:33.6, 33rd), Wyatt Beck (27:43.4, 39th), DeAndre Hall (27:46.9, 40th), Cameron Nocton (27:51.1, 42th), Kyle Stanley (28:08.5, 51st), Dixon Minton (28:58.3, 62nd), Trevor Bowers (29:29.8, 77th), AJ Ludwig (30:11.0, 93rd), Austin Wenta (30:16.5, 94th) and Brice Kennedy (31:03.7, 99th).
Julia Arruda led the women's team with a 20:18.1 to finish 27th. Others to run the 5k for the Red Wolves were Hannah Best (21:01.9, 45th), Maddy Wolf (21:35.7, 55th), Alexis Dean (21:38.6, 56th), Abby Page (21:58.7, 62nd), Sarah Kwiatkowski (22:07.4, 66th), Macy Adams (22:28.2, 73rd) and Rayni Porter (26:36.0, 100th).
Breanna Alderton of Brescia won the women's race in 18:22.8.
Next up on the schedule for the Red Wolves will be a trip to Michigan for the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge in Grand Rapids on Saturday, Oct. 22.
