Volleyball: Weekend Preview

The Indiana University East volleyball team entertains a pair of River States Conference foes this weekend on Lingle Court.

The Red Wolves face Carlow University on Friday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m., while welcoming Point Park University on Saturday, Oct. 1 at noon.

IU East is 13-3 overall and 3-1 in the conference. The Red Wolves are riding a three-match winning streak after defeating St. Mary-of-the-Woods College 25-19, 27-25, 25-20 on Tuesday.

Carlow is now 8-3, 1-3 after a 25-23, 27-25, 25-21 loss at Ohio Christian University this week.

Point Park is 9-4, 3-0 heading into Friday's league affair at IU Southeast in New Albany. The Pioneers are coming off a 25-18, 25-17, 27-25 loss at home to Slippery Rock University earlier this week.

FOLLOW THE MATCH

General admission for IU East volleyball is $7 per day. IU East students, faculty and staff are admitted free with their university ID.

The GPS address for Lingle Court is 2325 Chester Boulevard in Richmond.

Live video, produced by Whitewater Education Television (WETV), Comcast Channel 20, and live stats also are scheduled to be available for Carlow and Point Park.

YOU OUGHT TO KNOW

* Reece Shirley was recently named the RSC Setter of the Week for the Red Wolves as she passed the 2,000 mark in her career. She had 36 assists against St. Mary-of-the-Woods and now has 2,041 as a Red Wolf.

* Teah Barrett Matthews led IU East with 11 kills against SMOW, while Brooke Lepper and Makayla Price added 10 each.

* IU East has a 15-0 record in the all-time series against Carlow with two victories last fall.

* After two wins in 2021, the Red Wolves hold a 12-6 advantage over Point Park.
