Cross Country: Season Preview
WHAT HAPPENED LAST YEAR?
Conference: The IU East women finished fourth and the IU East men were seventh in the River States Conference Championships as the Red Wolves hosted the event for the first time since 2012.
National meet: Savannah Hart competed at the NAIA Cross Country National Championships last fall as she finished in 234th place by completing the 5K course at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site in 20:41.9.
BY THE NUMBERS
4th - IU East's predicited finish in the RSC preseason poll. The men were picked seventh.
7th - Hart's finish in the RSC Championships last fall to qualify for the national meet.
15 - Runners on the IU East women's cross country roster, the most in program history.
18 - Runners on the IU East men's cross country roster, also the most ever for the Red Wolves.
MEETS TO WATCH
Sept. 17 - IU Kokomo Invitational - The season opener for the Red Wolves as the runner will have an opportunity to compete on the course that will be used for the conference championship. The men's race begins at 10:30 a.m., while the women's event starts at 11:30 a.m. The GPS address for the Northview Church Kokomo Campus is 3409 S 200 W, Kokomo, IN 46902.
Oct. 1 - The Nike Cross Country Town Twilight - The 15th annual event is at the Cedarcrest Golf Course in Terre Haute, Ind.
Nov. 5 - River States Conference Championships - IU Kokomo is the host of the the event as the Red Wolves look to reach the national meet.
