Women's Soccer Signee: Mary Brewington from Guilford, Indiana

28

Mary Brewington from Lawrenceburg (Ind.) High School has signed a letter of intent to play women's soccer at Indiana University East starting with the 2022 season.

Red Wolves coach Shane Meridith made the announcement on May 30.

"Mary is a wonderful and very focused person," said Greg Deutsch (Head Coach CUP 03/04). "In the goal, she is a very hard worker who is dedicated to becoming a better goalkeeper. She reads the game well, has a high level of communication, has the talent to compete at the highest level and has the three elements to be very successful- desire, dedication and determination."

Brewington described her favorite time as a soccer player.

"My favorite soccer memory is my senior year of club soccer playing for a great coach and with a great group of people," she said.

At Lawrenceburg, Brewington was a member of the National Honor Society and an all-academic performer. She has also earned an Associate's Degree from Vincennes University.

Mary is the daughter of Melissa and Frank Minges with plans of majoring in Biology or Biochemistry.

"I chose IU East because I liked how close it was to home," Brewington wrote of her decision to join the Red Wolves. "IUE also gives me the opportunity to work towards a degree as an honors student and play soccer in a supportive environment."

Brewington is the second member of the 2022 IU East women's soccer recruiting class to be announced this spring.

IU East is an NAIA program. The Red Wolves have won the River States Conference Tournament twice and as a result reached the NAIA National Championships in 2019 and 2020-21.
