City of Portland recently issued the following announcement.

Portland's new recycling program begins on June 3rd on your regular trash day!

Place all recycling items within the green bags that are provided for you and they will be picked up on your regular trash day. It is important that you use only the green bags for recycling materials!

All In The Same Bag:

• Tin, steel and aluminum
• Glass bottles
• Plastic containers #1-7
• Paper and magazines
• Cardboard and paperboard

Do Not Recycle:

• Polystyrene (#PS6)
• Food Waste (Compost)
• Plastic Bags

A $5.50 sanitation fee will first appear on your bill received in July, which will be due by August 10th.

Pick up green recycling bags at:

• City Hall (Water Office)
• CVS
• Jay Community Center
• Jay County Public Library

You must bring the green post card to pick up bags.
